Between May 11-17th 2019 , Gaelcholáiste Chomáin in Rossport, Ireland hosted the final of our Erasmus+ mobilities as part of our Ecobusiness.eu program. Students and teachers from Greece, Spain, Poland and Finland received a Céad Míle Fáilte to our little school.
Our week started Saturday with student and host families meeting up followed by a good rest after the long journey to Rossport. We had great fun during the Icebreaker games getting to know each other. We learnt a lot about Irish Culture by doing workshops on Irish sports like Gaelic Football and Hurling. We had a great laugh trying to learn the steps of a traditional Irish Dance local to the area.
The weather was good to us, unlike typical Irish weather for this region , we had sunny warm days which helped with our outdoor activities. Cycling The Great Western Greenway was a lovely experience and a delightful way to see the scenery. The gripping pull of the cold Atlantic water was shiveringly cold as we surfed and did international team pursuits but it was so much fun.
In keeping with our program objectives, we had an informative workshop with a start up company called ‘Mariko Tea’, which we got to taste also on Wednesday. On Thursday our virtual advertising company presented its campaign to the Irish company BIOSHELL, located in the heart of the Gaeltacht region, we also had a chance to tour the factory and on our departure, they gave us lovely goodie bags. We had an informative talk with a local social entrepreneurship group ‘Teach Greannaí’ on how they work with the community while being environmentally friendly at the same time.
We finished up with a farewell lunch in the local town of Belmullet. Everyone said their goodbyes and all of a sudden the week had ended. We had a fun, informative and lasting experience that we would love to be part of again.
